There were forty-five seconds to figure out That there were some things I couldn't be But she said, boy, where you been and those things you've done She said it doesn't really matter to me No, it doesn't really matter to me We were blazing Lit up the sky like the four horsemen Of the kindest apocalypse Oh, that you've ever seen When she kissed me I came alive It felt like beaches in summertime Her waves were crashing on the shoreline of my mind I was pulled out to sea There were forty-five seconds to figure out That there were some things I couldn't be But she said, boy, where you been and those things you've done She said it doesn't really matter to me No, it doesn't really matter to me I was helpless Overcome by all the words she said to me And when she holds me in her arms Oh girl, you're my person now I'd been beaten down, I thought I Was out of the game for good But you take me as I am, oh, and I take you just the same There were forty-five seconds to figure out That there were some things I couldn't be But she said, boy, where you been and those things you've done She said it doesn't really matter to me No, it doesn't really matter to me Now I still wonder sometimes what if we hadn't met I think not finding you would be my biggest regret But I'll chase after you until my dying breath Cause baby we're not over yet There were forty-five seconds to figure out That there were some things I couldn't be But she said, boy, where you been and those things you've done She said it doesn't really matter to me No, it doesn't really matter to me

All I Need 04:41
I have known many days Sitting alone inside my own head Wondering why everyone else seems To know who they area and what they're doing tomorrow When you all came along, you Gave new life to what I had been dreaming Now I feel that we could rise up On the wings of the songs that we're singing All I need is for you to bring that beat back I could build mountains out of what, out of what you bring me All I need is for you to move that melody We'll keep telling these stories and fight on We'll play our way home Tell me a good story my friend Filled with wonder and darkness and longing To me the best stories are now the ones that we write, that we write in the telling We could get lost yet, I know this, I know this Some dreams are born to be broken but I know that together we can make Even someone's broken things become someone else's hallelujah All I need is for you to bring that beat back I could build mountains out of what, out of what you bring me All I need is for you to move that melody We'll keep telling these stories and fight on We'll play our way home

#42 04:12
What would you think about Maybe we try this out I'd like to stick around I know enough by now To know that in you I've found Something worth singing out loud I cannot tell you just how far down This road together you and I might go But I promise this will only grow Like a tall tree standing beside the riverbank Beautiful and strong, just like you my friend I don't know where I've been But I know where I want to go I know that I want you And if you believe me Let's go together I know that I want you Think about all the time we spent Apart from each other not knowing That it was each other we wanted Maybe we could build this together Take what we've known and make it better Would you be up for this journey? I cannot tell you just how far down This road together you and I might go But I promise this will only grow Like a tall tree standing beside the riverbank Beautiful and strong, just like you my friend I don't know where I've been But I know where I want to go I know that I want you And if you believe me Let's go together I know that I want you I know that I want you.... (etc.)

You and I 01:29
I don't know where to go But I think that you know I've been trying to figure you out And I wonder how long All this can go on 'fore I run out of reasons not to doubt I said please Tell me just what it means That there is something else left here Just between you and I Please, tell me just what it means That there is nothing else left here Oh, between you and I I don't need to think twice I don't think you were nice I think you told me what I needed to hear But I wonder how long All this can go on I just need you to sing it out loud and clear Please Tell me just what it means That there is something else left here Just between you and I Please, tell me just what it means That there is nothing else left here Oh, between you and I

When what you wanted is not what you need When all the things that could carry you there Leave you choking, down on your knees When what you came for is not why you stay When the walls close in and you're not sure If you should stick around or break away Tell me friend, what are you running from You were so sure of yourself--what have you become When all you stand for is an empty shell When all the things you thought you believed Were put inside your head by someone else When absolution is a dirty word Your media is no longer social, your screams all go unheard Tell me friend, what are you running from You were so full of yourself, but what have you become [The lies you told yourself Are as thick as New Orleans in June The pretension, the self-control, the need To be the center of every room What will it take to chip away At your self-sufficient veneer No matter how far you think you are Grace is always near] Tell me friend, what are you running from You were so high on yourself, but now you're under the gun Tell me again what it was you came for

Hey, my brother in grey, Just lift up your face and let it come in Look to the sky, reach out and taste What's coming your way Hey, my sister in pain, Open up your ears and hear what they say I found this for you, now you walk the line It's new every day I will hold you like your mother I will rob you like a thief I will scold you like a father When you try to find relief I will show you what it means, what it means Hey, don't bother to stay There isn't any here, it's all on the way It's over the hill, or under the bend You know what they say But if I told you my real name Would you break the mirror, would you play the game Go on, take your time, I'll be here all day It's always the same I will kiss you like your mother I will desert you in your grief You will mistake me for another But I will offer no relief Tell me what it means, what it means Open the door and come in Sit here by the fire Tell me how long have you been away And where have you been Open the door, it's a fine fine morning for desire A brand new day for someone like you With so much to give I will hold you like your mother I will make you believe That you want all the things I give you Pay no attention to the bleeding To the bleed
7.
When I found you, you were quiet It was kind of hard to believe But you told me that I should Sit down right beside you And tell you about all the things that I had seen If you've ever tried To hope it all turns out alright But lost the vision It's not always bright But hope shines in the darkest night If you would listen Sometimes I sit and wonder If all the world's a stage What is this drama we have Been tasked with performing And what's the part that I'm supposed to play If you've ever tried To hope it all turns out alright But lost the vision It's not always bright But hope shines in the darkest night If you would listen
8.
They say the devil's in the details, now I know what they mean When you took my hand that night I did not know what to believe I've had the same thing so many times Can't get my heart off my sleeve But if you tell me that you'll stay awhile I don't think I'll ever leave Come on, come on, come on Heather please Seasons change, people come and go That's just the way that it is But the more I see the more afraid I am Of making promises I am no prophet, nor prophet's son I just try to tell it like it is But you make me want to be a better man And I could get used to this Come on, come on, come on Heather please Come on, come on, come on Heather please I think that you're the one for me Come on, come one, come on Heather please I think that you're the one for me Give me your trust and you will see I'll give you back the best of me Cause I think that you're the one for me Come on, come on, come on Heather please

Together 03:34
I felt like I'd already met you But I did not know your name You were waiting in the wings before taking the stage There is nothing I would not have done for you If you could have stayed A broken heart falls down like thunder and rain Even when you wanted to go out and feel The sun on your face again I do not think there is even a language for The things that we feel now I cannot keep my eyes dry When I walk down the stairs All this was your kingdom I'd give it all up, I swear I would have let you take The very breath from my lungs If it meant that we could be Together
10.
I want to be remembered For the grace that I gave In a time when nobody knew How to love their neighbor I want to be forgotten It is not about my name But about all that may remain After all the labor The wild wolves are coming To tear apart all that you hold dear But if you hold on my dear Better days are coming See I've had my back broken, my heart torn open My words turned back against me Sleepless nights where I knew That I would not see the end I fell in love with the world I found When I opened up my eyes Truth be told I was not any worse for wear And I don't know how I still find hope But it's a gift that I'll gladly take It reminds me that there's still love left For you and I
11.
I Told You 04:50
If we could see through the window Read what's been written on that page If we could take what we've been given Would that change how we misbehave If we'd borrowed what we've stolen Could we pay it back in full See I'm not getting any younger And I'm starting to feel that pull I'm tired of trading my dreams For real life Now just because I am a dreamer That doesn't mean I am asleep And if I give up on fighting That doesn't make me weak If you could be forgiven For all the things that came before If you truly knew, for just one minute, that you were loved Would you settle that score I'm tired of trading my dreams For real life I told you I found it out But I still believe I told you I have my doubts But I still believe Someone lied to you and told you That you have all the time in the world No, we're all gonna go Belief is not the same thing as being certain See, I wonder, but that doesn't mean That I don't know I told you I found it out But I still believe I told you I have my doubts But I still believe
12.
Tell me how far I've come Tell me again how I have learned the things that I've learned Walk beside me, hear the words I say And what I don't say, and what I might say in my sleep Pick me up as I try to pick myself up I remember who I am most of the time I find that I live inside all of those words I couldn't say And that I'll never get to say to them No, I'll never get to say Can't get around it The things that came before I used to believe it I used to be so sure I just want to find it Life after the war Please won't you tell me What all this pain was for The things that I must fight against now Are not the same things I once trained for Astride the barrel of a gun and I'm not sure if it's pointing at me or pointing the other way but do you remember when I said Can't get around it The things that came before I used to believe it I used to be so sure I just want to find it Life after the war Please won't you tell me What all this pain was for And I wonder sometimes What is it that makes you so sure I would give it all away To find life after the war

about

On 'I Still Find Hope,' Rory Tyer and his friends wrestle with some of the perennial themes of human existence, including the continuing tension between beauty and pain, between good and evil, between great pleasure and horrendous evil. These songs are anthems to the choice to find hope in the midst of struggle.

Having added two members since recording 2013's "Six Thousand Summers," the band's songwriting and arranging has since taken huge steps forward. This album more fully shows the band's influences and is a triumph of independent, entrepreneurial musicianship: the band recorded, mixed, mastered, and produced everything entirely themselves, with Rory acting as chief engineer and producer.
