about

Rory wrote this about meeting his wife. They were just dating when he wrote it. : )

lyrics

There were forty-five seconds to figure out
That there were some things I couldn't be
But she said, boy, where you been and those things you've done
She said it doesn't really matter to me
No, it doesn't really matter to me

We were blazing
Lit up the sky like the four horsemen
Of the kindest apocalypse
Oh, that you've ever seen
When she kissed me I came alive
It felt like beaches in summertime
Her waves were crashing on the shoreline of my mind
I was pulled out to sea

There were forty-five seconds to figure out
That there were some things I couldn't be
But she said, boy, where you been and those things you've done
She said it doesn't really matter to me
No, it doesn't really matter to me

I was helpless
Overcome by all the words she said to me
And when she holds me in her arms
Oh girl, you're my person now
I'd been beaten down, I thought I
Was out of the game for good
But you take me as I am, oh, and I take you just the same

There were forty-five seconds to figure out
That there were some things I couldn't be
But she said, boy, where you been and those things you've done
She said it doesn't really matter to me
No, it doesn't really matter to me

Now I still wonder sometimes what if we hadn't met
I think not finding you would be my biggest regret
But I'll chase after you until my dying breath
Cause baby we're not over yet

There were forty-five seconds to figure out
That there were some things I couldn't be
But she said, boy, where you been and those things you've done
She said it doesn't really matter to me
No, it doesn't really matter to me
